Sustainable Crafts for Earth Day and Everyday!
By: Hailey Madara
With Earth Day coming up on April 22nd it is important to teach your friends, children,
and peers about the urgency of protecting our Earth. Each year on April 22, more than a
billion people celebrate Earth Day to protect the planet from things like pollution and
deforestation. By taking part in activities like picking up litter and planting trees, we’re
making our world a happier, healthier place to live.
Some ways that we could teach the younger generation, or just to have fun, is to do
some fun sustainable crafts! This is a way to teach the importance of reusing single-use
plastics, recycling, etc. Below are a list of pictures of some fun sustainable crafts that
are super easy and mostly kid-friendly!
1. Sustainable Flower Wreaths
The sustainable flower wreath can be created using any flowers, sticks, etc, found
outside or in your garden!
2. T-Shirt Quilt
This is a super fun and easy way to reuse old t-shirts! Can have your kiddos learn how
to use scissors too!
3. DIY Birdhouses
A super quick, but kind of messy, kid-friendly craft that is great to teach kids about birds
and reusing old bits of paper!
4. DIY T-Shirt Bag
A super fun and stylish way to reuse old t-shirts. Can be used to hold groceries and
much more!
5. DIY Flower Pots
A creative and easy way to decorate your home! Can even have kids paint their own!
These are just a handful of my favorite sustainable crafts that can be kid friendly and
easy to add your own touch! Make sure to teach anyone and everyone about the
importance of Earth Day on April 22nd!
